A Message From the Founder
I’m Jay, founder of Muster Point Outfitters.
During seven years service in the British Royal Marines Commando, I trained and served in Arctic cold, jungle heat, deserts, mountains, and urban environments. The scenery changed. The rule didn’t: your gear had to earn its place.
If it was too complicated, too fragile, or useless the moment conditions turned miserable, you didn’t want to be carrying it. After leaving the Marines, I spent 13 years in Switzerland, where I climbed, skied, camped, and found several entirely voluntary ways to become cold, wet, and exhausted.
I started Muster Point Outfitters because some of the best British and European military gear is surprisingly difficult to find in the United States, and because far too much outdoor equipment looks impressive right up until you actually need it.
My experience helps guide what we stock, but not every item is intended for the same person or purpose. The aim is to offer practical, dependable gear, explain it honestly and help customers decide whether it is right for their own needs.
Why Military Surplus?
Good military equipment is designed to be practical, hard-wearing and capable of performing in demanding environments. It may not always be the lightest or most fashionable option, but well-designed surplus can offer exceptional durability and value.
